Ready to travel and drive a car in Australia?
Are you sure to drive in Australia? hehe
Without doubt Australia is beautiful country specially a long the coast and out back Australia. Personality I love it! Probably I know better out back Australia than my country haha
But not that bad though haha I been travel around in my country too haha
Driving a car in Australia? Are you really ready? Do you driving licence & international permit with you?
Seem very silly question, but well yea .. too much rule in Australia so better you know first all the rule before you disobey it and get big fine! Don't say I am joker, but it is so true.
No doubt, the best to travel and spending a bit time in Australia by drive a car. Specially when you would like to travel to out back Australia. Well .. maybe if you only spending time at Melbourne or Adelaide or Sydney city should be fine without drive any car though.
But if you would discover more and stay bit longer in Australia, probably you should drive a car. Specially when you living here.
So I would like to share some tips before you REALLY decide to drive a car in Australia. Seriously you should read below tips carefully and make sure you follow the rule in Australia
- Make sure you keep your overseas licence, international driving permit, passport with you every where you go! Be carefully when police catch you big fine without licence. Don't waste your money. Search & brows road rule on local website the states where you would visit in Australia
- Search on internet about local rule, speed and etc. Remember every state in Australia might have different rule. Don't be lazy brows more and search as much information as you needed
- Insurance, make sure your car have full insurance
- Some car park is narrow in Australia, make sure don't hit/ scratch another people car, other wise will cost you big amount even you have insurance because holding overseas licence apparently insurance company in Australia will recognise as un-experience driver so it will cost big money than you expect even your car has insurance. It is bit rubbish but it is what it is
- Make sure know all the sign rule in Australia, because peoples can scream and very nasty with you when you disobey the rule even actually you have no idea what the mistake you do. And they even can report you to the police. Just watch out!
- Make sure you have enough saving when shit happen hahaha because you just never know, anything can happen on the road. So when you feeling not ready to drive and take a risk. Please don't drive, take a bus / train will much better for you because everything cost a lot money here
- Take RAA Road Insurance in Australia, so when you have problem with your car, you can call RAA anytime anywhere ..
- So many road rule and sign in Australia, it is normal as new comer would not know all the rule. But once you disobey, police will give you ticket fine and you must pay! You did mistake, you pay the price. That's it.
- Make sure you have GPS on your car, GPS really help a lot on the road that you never been before.
- Again, every state in Australia, they can have different the road rule. Make sure you know this other wise you will spending money to pay fine.
- Always calm down while driving even sometime people can be scream with you on road when you doing mistake or driving too slow on road hahaha
- Take some driving lesson in local states before you start to drive in Australia, trust me .. this is very helpful as the instructor will tell you a bit about road rule. Specially when you coming from Asia where not many rule over there haha. You spending probably 500 bucks for 5 times 5 hours driving lesson but it worth rather than you know nothing about the road rule in Australia then you get big fine haha
So please if you feel not ready yet after you read all the tips above. Better take public transport as public transport will cost you less rather you get fine haha
Trust me! Why I writing and sharing those tips to every one here, because I been there .. I had big learning previously and paid very expensive by what I done.
