The driver's handbook South Australia |
I am holding overseas driving licence for nearly 5 years. I have been driving in Adelaide, South AUstralia with my overseas licence and international permit.
Remember you need to translate your overseas driving licence in English if your overseas driving licence is not write in English. Every time you drive in the country also you need bring your original passport, international permit also overseas driving licence with English translation. Anytime in Australia there is always random check by police officer.
If you hold overseas licence such from UK, NZ, easy for you to convert without test because in UK or NZ sort of have same road rule like in Australia. Visit mylicence.sa.com.au to see more country on the list.
I convert my overseas driving licence to Australia driving licence 1 month before expired. Here below the procedure you need to follow to convert your overseas licence. My licence is Indonesia Driving licence :
1) Take some lesson with local instructor before you driving in Australia to get familiar with road rules in Australia. Big mistake = big fine!
2) Book online for your Theory Test & Hazard Prescription Test, if you are in South Australia area visit www.mylicence.sa.com.au
Theory Test cost 35 bucks, Hazard Prescription test I think around 29 bucks (not not sure, sorry I don't remember exactly)
3) Study online for theory test & hazard prescription test through their website or RAA website. This test is quiet easy actually
4) After passed theory test you can book straight a head hazard prescription test or book online your practise driving test first. Practise Driving Test though my instructor cost 150 bucks with my own car.
5) Take 1 lesson with your instructor before you have practice driving test, your instructor will let you know the area for driving test and which point you need get correct.
1 lesson is 65 bucks for one hour.
Theory Test is easy you can do manual or by computer, for me it is easier on computer though. Make sure you understand all those English instruction words on your test hahaha to avoid failed!
You can do test at any SA Service Government Office, just google it near your suburb / area where you live.
Driving test is little bit tricky, so make sure you calm down, just don't nervous or panic and remember FOLLOW all road rules.
I been reading the driver's handbook that I bough for 10 bucks at SA Government Service Office to make sure I know all the road rules even you really will learn by doing. But again MISTAKE = Big Fine! hahaha
Before I driving in Adelaide, I took maybe 8 lesson to make my self familiar with SA Road Rules.
After all passed you will get your full licence in Adelaide, South Australia. Hope guys this is helpful.
Watch as well this video the reason why you have failed on driving test!
